SYDNEY, Australia - Thursday 8th November 2007 - Microsoft Australia today announced Melbourne based Universal Biosensors had selected Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV to manage its enterprise resource planning (ERP) needs as it ramps up its commercial scale manufacturing capability.
“Our main goals in implementing Microsoft Dynamics NAV were to ensure we adopted best practices early and that we were able to meet the growing demands from regulatory bodies such as the Food and Drugs Administration and the Therapeutical Goods Association,” said Mr Mark Morrisson, Managing Director and CEO, Universal Biosensors.
“It is our expectation the Microsoft Dynamics will help establish a solid foundation to running our business as efficiently as possible,” Mr Morrisson said.
Universal Biosensors develops and manufactures a range of in vitro diagnostic tests for point-of-care use. The core technology is a disposable test strip which is inserted into a small, re-usable handheld meter used to perform blood tests. Each of the tests under development utilizes an electrochemical sensor at the end of the strip. This sensor is able to detect and measure electrical signals in a sample of blood.
“Universal Biosensors provides a prime example of how Microsoft Dynamics NAV can be extended to handle complex layers of industry-specific, high-level ERP processes simultaneously,” said Ms Claire Kennedy, Dynamics Product Manager, Microsoft Australia.
“Universal Biosensors joins the more than 57,000 business around the world that have chosen Microsoft Dynamics NAV as their business management solution,” Ms Kennedy said.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a comprehensive and highly scalable business-management solution that offers a cost-effective way to manage and integrate finances, e-commerce, supply chain, manufacturing, project accounting, field service, customer relationships and human resources.
Tectura (Australia) Pty Ltd, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and Microsoft’s Global Partner of the Year in 2006, will implement the new solution. The company has a strong focus in the Life Sciences Industry with more than 100 clients globally running Tectura Life Sciences on Dynamics NAV.
“Tectura’s specific Life Sciences functionality built entirely on the Dynamics NAV platform will assist Universal Biosensors with specific industry functionality and also allow them to be competitive in the biomedical device marketplace,” said Mr Neill Hills-Johnes, Tectura Country Manager for Australia.
“We are extremely pleased with this exciting new relationship as it is testimony to the growing faith the Life Sciences community has in our solution and adds to a growing list of Australian-based companies running our solution” says Mr Hills-Johnes.
