BizSpark Members: Host and Manage your “Software as a Service”

Startups can use BizSpark Hosting and IT operations servers for hosting and managing their "software as a service" application accessed online by their customers.

Startups can self-host, or leverage an existing BizSpark Hosting Partner. BizSpark members get access to Microsoft products including Windows Azure, IIS, Web Hosting Gallery, SQL Server, ASP. net and tools like Web Matrix and Visual Studio.

Startups may use Server Software available as part of the BizSpark program to host and deploy a software application that they developed and is accessed online by their customers.

The BizSpark servers cannot be used where they don’t support an application the Startup developed and BizSpark licenses don’t apply when the Startup:

Offers the servers simply as a hosted platform (e.g. a SQL Server database)
Uses the servers as a platform for another company’s application, such as a CRM application from a third party

The Platform: Windows Azure offers a simple, comprehensive, and powerful platform for the creation of web applications and services. Windows Azure enables Startups to focus on their business logic, as opposed to operational hurdles, in creating compelling products.

The Server: Internet Information Services in Windows Server provides a secure, easy-to-manage, modular and extensible platform for reliably hosting Web sites, services and applications.

The Web Framework: ASP.NET is a free, fully supported Web application framework that helps you create standards-based Web solutions.

The Tools

: Microsoft Visual Studio is a free development environment for building, testing and deploying Web standard applications including ASP.NET, Internet Information Services (IIS), Azure and SQL Server. Develop, debug and deploy using ASP.NET.

: Microsoft WebMatrix is a free tool that makes it easy for anyone to create a new web site using a template or an existing free open source application, customize it, and then publish it on the internet via a wide choice of hosting service providers.

: Microsoft Expression Studio Web Professional includes a complete set of professional design and development tools for creating modern standards based (including HTML 5 and CSS 3) Web sites, streaming video, Web graphics and frameworks.
