In 1991 we became one of the first software companies to create our own computer science research organization with the goal of providing future generations with technology breakthroughs. Since then Microsoft Research has evolved into an organization with more than 700 researchers studying more than 55 research areas including speech recognition, information retrieval, user interface research, natural language processing, and more.
