Microsoft Partners in Learning hosts national and regional events throughout the year that recognize innovative educators and school leaders. These competitions culminate in the Partners in Learning Global Forum.
This year’s Global Forum will take place in Prague, Czech Republic from November 28 - December 1, 2012. The Global Forum – with the theme, “Your ideas matter” – will bring together more than 500 of the most innovative teachers, school leaders, education leaders, and government officials from 75 countries.
The best of worldwide education
Teachers who attend the forum are global finalists who have made it through a progressively selective competition that started with more than 250,000 participants and national events. They will compete for one of 18 global Innovative Educator Awards. Learn more about participating in regional forums by connecting with your local Microsoft office.
This year we will choose a new cohort of 60 Pathfinder and 30 Mentor Schools to join the Partners in Learning for Schools program through a rigorous application and evaluation process. School leaders receive a year of intense engagement and mentoring from education experts and other school leaders, helping them begin a journey of transformation at their schools.

Global Forum 2011
This year’s event will build on the momentum of 2011 Global Forum announcements that included a partnership with The British Councilto help improve quality and access in education and training around the world and Microsoft Partners in Learning’s new management of the TEACH campaign, a US effort to recruit great teachers to the classroom and improve the perception of the teaching profession.
At the Partners in Learning Global Forum 2011 in Washington, D.C., eighteen projects, and the teachers behind them, were awarded special recognition. US Secretary of Education, Arnie Duncan, addressed the audience in a keynote presentation.
“I can’t thank the wonderful people from Microsoft PIL enough for including me in what is a highlight of my professional career.”
- Partners in Learning Educator
“I can state without hesitation that even though I am only seven years into what will surely be a lengthy career in education, the four days I spent in DC will undoubtedly remain the highlight of my professional career…I feel tremendously privileged to now be a part of a network of such dedicated educators and I'm certain that the personal connections I made at the Forum will lead to some very rewarding professional partnerships...I left the Partners in Learning Global Forum feeling not only valued for the work that I do, but thoroughly reenergized and excited about the direction in which education is moving and the role that I will play in making things better.”
