"Graphically, this game is a real looker on every level - from the characters to
enemies and environments to special effects. I particularly enjoyed the huge outdoor
levels such as the winter forest, complete with wildlife, trees that sway in the
wind and snow that falls lightly to the ground."

"I think it's better than Diablo II by a long shot. The action is better since you
can travel with eight characters. The fighting is more tactical since your characters
have so many attack options. The pack mule really helps you manage your money and
equipment. The graphics are truly 3D with a fantastic art style. This is a game
I'd give to a friend that's never tried PC gaming before; it's that good."

"In conclusion Dungeon Siege is one of the best titles ever released, most certainly
the best role-playing game on the market. The graphics simply can't be compared
and the quality and power that the engine packs is quite potent in itself. The gameplay
is rock solid, with many new revolutionary and game enhancing features being included."

"A simple, intuitive user interface, coupled with excellent sound and truly amazing
visual effects for an RPG of this magnitude is amazing in itself. Adding a huge
game world with no load time and a myriad of nice effects make Dungeon Siege the
most exciting game this year. A must-buy for RPG enthusiasts, Dungeon Siege's easy
to use interface will allow first-time gamers to jump in to this immersive game
rather quickly."

"Though some may say Dungeon Siege just seems like Diablo 2 put into the polygonal
world, they obviously haven't actually played the game. It offers a wide range of
weapons, skills, magic, pets, monsters, demons, mean looking things, and many awesome
sights and sounds. For all you die hard Diablo 2 fans, this game is your dreams
come true."

"Dungeon Siege is the first game to come along in a long time that I just couldn't
(and still can't) put down. If you're at all a fan of the Diablo-esque hack 'n slash
action-RPG genre, you owe it to yourself to give Dungeon Siege a try."

"Overall, Dungeon Siege is a genuinely addictive, beautifully presented and easy
to understand RPG title that deserves all of the praise it will inevitably receive.
It has all the makings of a classic, and with the imminent release of the official
editing tools, it's not the last we'll hear of it."

"Dungeon Siege is the one, it not only takes what other games have done and makes
them better, it creates a style and ambience that is all it's own, this is one game
that no gamer should miss, it really is just that good, and that is why I have no
problem giving it a perfect score of 5/5"

"...what really makes Dungeon Siege such a successful action RPG, isn't all of the
technical complexities involved, but all of the simple design decisions made by
Gas Powered Games. Dungeon Siege is simple, and it is this simplicity that makes
it an amazingly fun fantasy action RPG."

"Overall Dungeon Siege does manage to live up to the hype and should keep you doing
your best to make extinct every creature that walks the woods while saving the land
from a dangerous and ominous threat! The graphics are well polished and the game
so addictive that it will keep you hacking, slashing, and casting for a good long
while. And, when it is finally over, you'll still be hungry for more."

"Personally, I've been having a great time playing this advanced dungeon-crawl.
I remember being impressed long ago when old-school RPGs first made life easier
by adding a "pool gold" button, so Dungeon Siege's monumental ease-of-use is particularly
impressive to me. Some people may be turned off by the initiative of the party,
preferring to control all the little details. Not me. My throat has been spared
hours of shouting, and once again I'm free to concentrate on the larger issues...
like having fun."

"Dungeon Siege breaks through the usual conventions of the RPG genre to deliver
an action packed and inclusive game which can be enjoyed without trepidation by
all gamers and not just Real Ale drinkers. One of the PC highlights of the year
and with a massive online game it represents excellent value for money."

"Dungeon Siege is one of those games. Created by Chris Taylor of Total Annihilation
fame, this one gets so many things right it's almost stupefying. It's a gorgeously
rendered action fighter with an incredibly simple and elegant interface, coupled
with insanely addictive gameplay. Wow - Dungeon Siege is already an early contender
for game of the year."

"This is a joyful game to look at, and addictive to play. This game may not have
the catchiest name in the realm, and its title may be indicative of what it presents,
but when it comes to RPGs, this is one game that holds its own against all of the
competition. It will rob players of time (as in, time will pass so quickly you may
pull an all-nighter or two without realizing time is slipping past so quickly) and
reward with an action-packed jaunt through an amazingly rendered land."

"Dungeon Siege is definitely a contestant for the game of the year. Excellent 3D
graphics, seamless transitions from one area to the other as well as a good musical
score and professional voice acting provide for an exceptional singleplayer experience.
Travelling the kingdom of Ehb is simple and intuitive thanks to the decent hotkeys
and easy mouse interface. The game is well balanced in terms of difficulty and therefore
not frustrating. The addition of a whole different multiplayer world is a nice gift
from Gas Powered Games as well. Dungeon Siege truly offers addictive gameplay and
I will predict that once you have finished it you will be sorry it is over... If
there were a platinum award Dungeon Siege would deserve it!"

"I honestly believe that Dungeon Siege will do the same for the action-rpg genre
that Diablo did when it was first introduced. There are so many ideas, tweaks, functions,
and improvements in Dungeon Siege that I can't imagine us every going back, perhaps
the biggest of which is its seamless 3D world. I firmly believe that Dungeon Siege
is now the game that future releases in this genre should be measured against. If
you are looking for total addiction to killing thousands of monsters in a beautiful
world, you will not be disappointed in this one. Just don't think the story is what
will keep you going."

weeks and months to come: Dungeon Siege!"

"Dungeon Siege is one of two games released this year, that I've played, which give
me a glimmer of hope that PC games are getting better. It does break new ground
in many areas, including having the first true 3D world in an RPG and having zero
load times. It's quite obvious that the time Gas Powered Games spent working Dungeon
Siege was well-spent and I can't wait to see what they have in store next. If you're
a fan of RPG's you owe it to yourself to play this game, and if you're not, it's
a great time to catch the RPG bug by getting one of the best RPG's to ever hit the
PC platform."

"When it all comes down to it, this is the game Diablo II should have been. Hundreds
of thousands of people line up on Battle.Net daily to do battle with Diablo and
his minions, with the game still ranking high in sales every quarter. Lemme tell
ya folks, Dungeon Siege puts it to shame. It is a better game than D2 in almost
every aspect (save the audio - D2's audio isn't anything to write home about either),
and is well worth every penny spent. If you even remotely liked Diablo II in any
way, shape, or form, you will love Dungeon Siege."

"When I first heard about Dungeon Siege I thought to myself 'Oh wow another Diablo
style dungeon crawler, just what the world needed.' After hearing more about it
and seeing some screen shots I was a little more optimistic about it but still not
overly excited. But after playing it for a while my stomach rumbled and I cheerfully
ate my sarcastic words. The combat is where the comparison to Diablo ends. The fluid
transition from upper world to dungeon was about enough to bring tears to my eyes.
The fully controllable statistics made me have to change my pants. There is no aspect
of this game that I found wanting and I would suggest to any rpger out there that
you go out and get your sweaty little hands on a copy of this game as soon as possible."

First Impressions
April 8, 2002
"So far, I've played a little over 20 hours. My overall impression so far is that
Dungeon Siege is tremendous if rather mindless fun. It's not a deep game up to now,
and while it gives indicates it won't remain quite as straightforward, it's also
pretty obvious that it will stick to its action- and combat-oriented style. If you
require a game to have such features as a deep, highly numerical character development
system, an open-ended structure and a plethora of puzzles and side quests, Dungeon
Siege won't be your cup of tea. However, if you're open to a fast-paced, monster-bashing
romp through a great-looking gameworld, then you may want to take a closer look.
Naturally, we'll be covering the game more completely including multiplayer and
perhaps the Siege Editor, which is due for release in about a month, so stay tuned
for more."

"What else to say. I love this game, it's damn addictive! :) I can image how someone
will say it's repetitive shit, but it isn't (at least for me). The hunting for better
items and equipment is very satisfying and thanks to auto-combat you won't suffer
by eternal clicking and your mouse will survive :) It's definitely one of the best
RPG's to ever hit the PC platform. I strongly recommend you to buy it."

"It really comes down to the details I suppose. And there are a lot of details.
There's the brilliant textures for all objects in the game, there's the bugs and
animals running around the levels not bothering anyone, there's the debris and other
random objects populating the world at random, the fire on the sword, the way your
pack mule shakes its head when sitting around, the way the pack on the mule's back
grows as you give him more to carry... I haven't seen a game this fleshed out and
full of objects ever."
