Focus Areas

Over the years, we have worked on various products and gained deep expertise. We believe that multiple small teams working on disparate technologies and targeting customer segments make it difficult for the organization to achieve focus. To ensure maximum leadership focus as well as provide more opportunities for growth to employees, the MSIDC leadership team decided to have a few deep focus areas instead of a large number of projects. In fiscal year 2008 we decided to focus around a few deep missions in Data, Tools, Mobility, Business Applications, Live and Windows domains. This is a testimony of our commitment to provide the best possible career opportunities to our employees.

Biz Apps

The Business Applications (Biz Apps) teams are solving complex software problems such as connecting Microsoft® business platforms and productivity applications to leading third party LOB systems, integrating real-world RFID/ sensor data into business applications and delivering core software & services components of Microsoft Customer Relationship Management.

Data

The MSIDC Data teams are working on challenges around reliable and cost-effective data protection & recovery (both for businesses and end consumers), building Microsoft’s premier high performance low footprint embedded database engine and addressing scalable distributed caching and database manageability.

Mobile

The Mobile teams are focused on key areas in the mobile knowledge worker domain – delivering great productivity applications in the form of the mobile companion to the Microsoft Office desktop suite and delivering enterprise-grade unified communications through a “single phone” solution that offers full user mobility as well as all the standard features of a deskphone.

Tools

The MSIDC Tools teams are driving the quest for ‘Testable Provable Software’ -- building an end-to-end testing platform as part of Visual Studio® Team System and driving the broad and strategic Mobile Platform and Tools charter for Microsoft.

Windows®

The Windows teams at MSIDC drive several core capabilities of the next generation of Windows, including critical client and desktop virtualization technologies, pervasive/ ubiquitous enterprise network connectivity apart from working on several in-the-box applications which will showcase key new software and hardware advances in the new platform. MSIDC also plays a critical role in Windows Serviceability – the fixes and updates delivered by the MSIDC team get downloaded by 1 billion PCs every.

Windows Live™

Windows Live teams are focused on problems that include India Live Search, Maps and City Guides, driving Live adoption & usage at internet cafés in India, campaign mgmt. & editorial verification tools to improve the efficiency and lower costs of the adCenter platform and delivering core components of the Microsoft Live Mesh platform.
