Live Alerts

The Windows Live Alerts service allows users to stay up-to-date with all important information feeds and notifications whenever anything new comes up. The service allows users to route the notifications to e-mail, SMS, or IM – and push through over a billion alerts every month across the world.

Networking

The Windows Networking team delivers several networking technologies that are essential for Internet/ Intranet connectivity. The team develops mobile broadband, remote access, network addressing & naming solutions and network authentication solutions. The products developed by MSIDC form the core of networking infrastructure and impact millions of people everyday. MSIDC has complete ownership of several key Windows server roles such as Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol server, Routing and Remote Access (RRAS) server, and WINS server.

Remote Desktop Virtualization

The Remote Desktop Virtualization (RDV) group is a part of the $13 billion Microsoft Server and Tools business. Remote virtualization technology enables remote execution of desktop applications on a server from a wide range of devices over virtually any type of network connection. In Windows Server, this role is called Terminal Server. The mission of the MSIDC team is to define and develop the Remote Desktop Virtualization Services platform to enable Hosted Desktop and Applications Service and Centralized Windows for Emerging and Academic Markets.

Virtualization

The MSIDC Virtualization team has end-to-end ownership of Microsoft’s flagship Virtualization products - Microsoft Virtual Server and Microsoft Virtual PC, and has made significant contributions to Hyper-V, Microsoft’s path-breaking server virtualization product released in 2008.

Windows Serviceability

The mission of the Microsoft Windows Serviceability (WinSE) team is to deliver the best servicing experience in the form of Service Packs, Security Updates & HotFixes to all Windows customers around the world by focusing on innovation of better tools, services and solutions. The team aims at keeping Windows installations secure, reliable, scalable and high on performance.

Live Mesh

Microsoft Live Mesh takes a service-centric approach to allow users access to any data and any application, at any time and on any device. By connecting PCs and other devices to a service that acts as a "mesh" for their digital world, Live Mesh will bring life to the user’s Operating System experience. The team at MSIDC is responsible for enabling access to Live Mesh from mobile devices. This includes both WAP browser based access, as well as a richer client for mobile devices. In addition, the team also contributes to the design and development of the Developer Platform for Live Mesh.
