John Robbins
|
John Robbins is in a unique position to write this book. While most developers only get to think about debugging techniques and utilities on their own time, he spent four years completely focused on debugging at NuMega Technologies (now Compuware NuMega), the most successful of the third-party debugging and testing tools companies in the C/C++, VB, and Java space.
Robbins was one of the earliest engineers at NuMega and played a critical role in researching developers' debugging needs and using this data to help formulate the company's product development strategy. In addition, he has been a key contributor to developing and shipping some of the most well-known and award-winning products in the development tools market space: BoundsChecker, TrueTime, and TrueCoverage. Because Robbins has held the role of everything from individual contributor engineer to system architect to a product manager leading ten-person teams, he has the breadth of experience necessary to view debugging and testing from all angles.
Robbins is a columnist and contributing editor to MSJ, where for nearly two years he has written the Bugslayer column. Robbins has established a loyal readership and a reputation as someone who can discuss the debugging techniques that readers want to know. He is a popular speaker at the WinDev conferences.
