Q. What is Windows Live ID?
A. Microsoft Windows Live ID is a personal authentication service that makes it easier for you to use the web and increases speed and security when making purchases online.
Q. Why has the Microsoft OEM Partner Center (OPC) website chosen to use Windows Live ID to authenticate its users?
A. Microsoft Windows Live ID, which has been around since July 1999, is one of the foundation services of the Microsoft .NET initiative. Microsoft uses Windows Live ID as the authentication mechanism for hundreds of web services.
By adopting Windows Live ID to authenticate users, the OPC website is committed to give you the most informative, most secure online experience we can by:
- Providing a highly secure web browsing experience.
- Allowing users to access other Windows Live ID-enabled sites using their same Windows Live ID account.
- Allowing users greater access to rich content and services from other Microsoft sites without having to enter a separate username and password.
Q. Where can I find general information about Windows Live ID?
Q. Can I have more than one Windows Live ID?
A. Yes. However, be aware that the OPC website will only recognize the Windows Live ID you used the first time you registered for our site, or when you migrated your old OPC website account to a Windows Live ID. (This Live ID is the same one you use to log in to the Partner site.) If you return to OPC using another Windows Live ID sign in, you may be unable to access the site, and you will need to use the Windows Live ID account you used when you first accessed the site.

Q. I am a registered user, but now when I log into the OPC website, I see a page asking me to register. What do I do now?
A. You'll typically see this problem if:
- You are using a different Windows Live ID account than when you first created your user account
or
- You have not yet created a user account for the OPC website.
Due to security and privacy issues we do not have access to OPC’s Windows Live ID information. If you are unsure of the Windows Live ID used to log into the OPC website, follow the instructions below to provide us with the details for each Windows Live ID that you have. - On the left navigation, click Account Services and log in using your Windows Live ID associated to your Microsoft Partner Program account.
- On the left navigation, click Account Summary.
- Under your personal information, click Registered Information.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- You will see your unique ID. Please send us this information.
Q. I've signed up with my hotmail.com Windows Live ID account, and I can get into the site just fine, but I'd really like to use a different Windows Live ID account. Can I switch the Windows Live ID account I use to access the OPC website?
A. Contact the Regional Service Center for assistance in changing the Windows Live ID that you currently use to log in.
Q. I've forgotten the password for my Windows Live ID account, and now I can't get into the OPC website. How can I reset my password?
A. Go to the Windows Live ID site. Here you can manage your Windows Live ID account, change your password, and reset your password if you've forgotten it. This tool is web-based and will allow you to change or reset your Windows Live ID password right from the webpage. This service is managed by Windows Live ID team. Should you encounter any problems, consult the Windows Live help documentation. If you do not know your password, go to Windows Live Customer Support.
Q. My browser is configured to not accept cookies and I can't get into the OPC website. How can I fix this?
A. Your browser must support cookies, and the option must be enabled for you to sign in to the OPC site. To do this, follow the instructions below:
- In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Privacy tab, and click Sites.
- In Address of Website, type the complete address of the website for which you want to specify custom settings, in this case http://www.microsoft.com/oem.
- To specify that you want Internet Explorer to always allow cookies from http://www.microsoft.com/oem to be saved on your computer, click Allow.
- In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Privacy tab, and then click Edit.
- In Address of Website, type the complete address of the website for which you want to specify custom settings, http://www.microsoft.com/oem.
- To specify that you want Internet Explorer to always allow cookies from http://www.microsoft.com/oem to be saved on your computer, click Allow.
