Office 2010 SP1 includes a vast array of enhancements, directly addresses customer feedback relating to security, stability, and performance of the Office 2010 products, and represents a significant milestone in the support life cycle of Office 2010. The release underscores our commitment to continually improve the quality of Microsoft software over time.

How Can I Get Office 2010 SP1?

Office 2010 SP1 was released to the web on June 28, 2011, for end users to download directly from the Download Center and Microsoft Update.

An updated Office 2010 OPK that includes SP1 is now available as an optional release. You can continue to use the original Release to Manufacturing (RTM) Office 2010 OPK, or you can update your PC builds by creating a new image using the updated Office 2010 OPK with SP1. There will not be a separate Office 2010 SP1 release that can be applied directly to the RTM OPK.

What Is Included in Office 2010 SP1?

Highlights of Office 2010 SP1 include:

  • The Public Update and Cumulative Update releases to date.
  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 fixes an issue where “Snooze Time” would not reset between appointments.
  • The default behavior for Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 "Use Presenter View" option is changed to display the slide show on the secondary monitor.
  • Office client suites use the “Programs and Features” Control Panel, building on work from Microsoft Office 2007 SP2.
  • The Microsoft Word 2010 web application extends printing support to “Edit Mode.”
  • Charts can be inserted into Microsoft Excel 2010 Workbooks using the Excel Web Application.
  • Outlook Web Application Attachment Preview (with Exchange Online only).
  • Integrated community content in the Access Application Part Gallery.
  • Better alignment between Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft SharePoint Server browser support.
  • Improved backup and restore functionality for SharePoint Server.
  • Microsoft Project Professional now synchronizes scheduled tasks with SharePoint task lists.
  • Windows Internet Explorer 9 “Native” support for Office Web Applications and SharePoint.
  • Office Web Applications support for Chrome.
  • Support for searching PPSX files in Search Server.
  • Microsoft Visio fixes scaling issues and arrowhead rendering errors with SVG export.
  • Proofing Tools now includes improved spelling suggestions in Canadian English, French, Swedish, and European Portuguese.

With the release of Office 2010 SP1, Office 2010 Full Packaged Product (FPP) with media has been slipstreamed to include the SP1 software bits. Part numbers for the Office 2010 FPP products will not change, in order to minimize inventory management impact for retailers and distributors.
