Windows ADK overview

The Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) is a collection of tools and documentation that you can use to customize and deploy Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 operating systems to new computers and servers. It includes the deployment tools that were previously released as part of the OEM Preinstallation Kit (OPK) and has two key scenarios:

  • Windows deployment
  • Windows assessment
Windows ADK Use these tools and documentation to customize and deploy Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Windows OPK Use the Windows OPK to help you preinstall Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems.
Microsoft Office Single Image v15.2 SP1 OPK Use this set of tools, product files, and documentation for preloading Office 2013 suites on new PCs distributed to end users.
Internet Explorer 10 OPK Use these tools and documentation to preinstall Windows Internet Explorer 10 in 38 languages.
Microsoft Security Essentials OPK Use the OPK to support the configuration and deployment of Microsoft Security Essentials as a free preinstalled security solution for Windows 7.
Windows Essentials OPK Use the installer application and instructions to silently install and configure Windows Essentials.
Skype OPK Use the installer application and instructions to silently install Skype for customers.
