| Windows SBS 2011 Essentials Technical Hands-On Labs Overview |
Six hands-on labs that are designed to provide you with the technical knowledge and skills you need to install, configure, administer and troubleshoot a Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials infrastructure. The course focuses on deployment, configuration, and administration using the SBS 2011 Essentials server, Management Dashboard, and add-in extensions. |
| Windows SBS Essentials Technical Hands-On Labs: Module 1 |
Preparing for Deployment. This module highlights the ways in which the Windows SBS 2011 Installation Wizard helps users quickly and easily install and configure a server. In this module, users fill out a planning document. Users then boot from the DVD to start the first part of installation by selecting the hard drive and providing a key. During the next phase of the module, users revert to a snapshot to skip the waiting period of installation. This snapshot boots into the final phase of installation, where users set the server and business name and select other security settings. |

Server Configuration. This module highlights the ways in which the SBS 2011 Dashboard Getting Started tasks list simplifies the process of finalizing server configuration and enabling important features that would otherwise require more effort and knowledge of Windows technologies. Primarily, the module walks users through initially configuring automatic updates and other SBS 2011 features including updates, server backups, remote access, shared folders, and email notification. |
| Windows SBS Essentials Technical Hands-On Labs: Module 3 |
Server Management and Monitoring. This module shows the benefits the SBS Dashboard offers as a centralized solution for server configuration and monitoring. The module reviews server settings in the SBS 2011 Dashboard. Specifically, in this module, users review detailed configuration settings for domain members, local storage, server backup settings, and time/location. Users also review server health via warnings and alerts. |
| Windows SBS Essentials Technical Hands-On Labs: Module 4 |
User and Client and Computer Management. This module focuses on using the Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials Dashboard to manage users and clients and using the SBS 2011 Essentials Connect site to join a computer to the SBS domain. |

Client Experience. This module walks users through using the client Launchpad and the Remote Web Workplace. Once installed, the Launchpad provides quick links for managing backups, browsing shared folders, and accessing the Remote Web Workplace and the SBS Dashboard. The Remote Web Workplace is a website that users can log into anytime from any Internet-enabled computer to access domain resources such as email and file shares as well as RDP into workstations. |
