What Happens Next After you have completed the download registration process, you will receive an e-mail message with a link to the download page. On the download page, you will see each version of the software that you requested to download along with a link to the Setup file and Product Key for the software. You will then be shown the following set-up steps: (1) To start the installation immediately, click "Open or Run this program from its current location". (2) To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click "Save or Save this program to disk". We recommend that you choose either a typical or a complete installation. If you choose a minimal installation, do not remove the installation files after install, so that
additional components remain available if you decide to use them later. (3) After the download is complete, click on the file named Setup.exe to launch the Office Installation Wizard. You will be asked to enter the product key provided. You will be required to activate the trial software over the Internet by using the product key. The easy-to-use Office Activation Wizard will automatically appear when you launch the program and will walk you through the software activation process. When you activate the program, you receive a license that allows you to run the trial software for a 120-day period. Activating Your Trial You must have Internet access to activate the trial software. Follow these steps to activate the trial. (1) In the Setup dialog box, enter the 25-character Trial Product Key. If you received an Evaluation CD kit, the Trial Product Key is inside the CD wallet. If you download a trial, the Trial Product Key is in the e-mail that was sent to you after you registered for the download. Click Next. (2) You will then see the End User License Agreement (EULA). You must accept the terms of the EULA to use the trial. To accept it, select "I accept the terms in the License Agreement". Then click Accept. After you accept the EULA, the Activation Wizard will open. (3) In the Activation Wizard, select "I want to activate the software over the Internet". Click Next. The wizard will lead you through the activation process. When this process is complete, you will receive a notice that activation has been successful. Trial Conversion If, after the 120-day trial period, you choose to purchase the full version, you will have to install the full version (the non-evaluation version). First, you have to obtain the Microsoft Office System product at any retailer or online retailer to get a valid product key. After you have obtained your copy, you have two options to start the conversion process. (1) In any
of the trial expiration reminder messages sent to you in the last 120 days of the trial period, click "Convert", or (2) In the Help menu of the trial product you are using, click "Activate Product". You can do this at any time during the trial period, or even after the trial has expired. In the Setup dialog box, click "Enter Product Key". Enter the product key shown on the packaging of the product obtained at retail and click Next. You will then see the End User License Agreement (EULA). You must accept this agreement to use the software. Select "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" and click Next. After you accept the EULA, an alert window will open saying that your product is being updated. Another message will open once the software has been set up successfully. After launching the full version for the first time, you will be prompted to activate it. Unlike the trial activation, during activation of the full version you will have the option to activate the software either over the Internet or by telephone. The default option is to activate the software over the Internet. Once that is
done, the trial is converted to perpetual use with no uninstall or reinstall necessary. Important Notes - Trial software is intended for evaluation purposes only.
- There is no product support for trials.
- The trial software can be installed on up to four (4) computers. Each installation must be activated through the online Microsoft Office Activation Wizard or over the telephone.
- The trial software is 287 megabytes (MB) with an estimated download time of 12 hours over a 56 kilobits per second (Kbps) Internet connection and 30 minutes over a local area network (LAN) connection. If you do not have a high-speed Internet connection, consider ordering the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Trial CD Kit. Internet service provider fees and connect-time charges may apply.
