In May of 2009, the program helped launch a new startup called InishTech, based in Dublin, which takes responsibility for Microsoft Software Licensing and Protection (SLP) Services. Marking the first time IP Ventures has spun out an existing Microsoft division, the new company has taken on SLP Services’ existing customer base and will continue to provide, expand and grow the service to independent software vendors (ISVs) and developers around the world.
In November of 2008, Microsoft IP Ventures helped launch Sabi, Inc., based in Kirkland Washington. Sabi licensed Microsoft intellectual property to create “ItzaBitza” – a children’s game with a special drawing tool and related adventures that make learning fun and engaging.
