Our 90,000 employees drive our business, and we have a responsibility to create a respectful and rewarding work environment for them. The health, well-being, satisfaction, and diversity of our employees differentiate Microsoft and help us succeed. We invest in employee training and career development and provide incentives to support employee engagement in their communities. We also provide resources to support work-life balance, including generous maternity and parental leave allowances and technology tools to foster flexible work arrangements such as telecommuting.

FY2011 woman and minorities at Microsoft

Each year, Microsoft conducts a satisfaction survey among all employees to help us better understand their experiences. About 90 percent of employees responded to our FY11 survey. Among the findings:

  • 83 percent of employees would recommend Microsoft as a great place to work.
  • 92 percent feel they are treated with respect and dignity by their managers.
  • 91 percent feel Microsoft is a good corporate citizen in their communities and around the world.

These results are well above the median benchmark for peer companies.
