U.S. Consent Decree

On November 6, 2001, Microsoft entered into a proposed settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and nine State Attorneys General, designed to resolve the remaining liability findings in U.S. v. Microsoft, CA No. 98-1232 (CKK) and New York, et al, v. Microsoft, CA No. 98-1233 (CKK). The proposed settlement was entered by the District Court on November 12, 2002 in the form of three Final Judgments. The Final Judgments expired on May 12, 2011.
Communications Protocol Program
Microsoft continues to make available on reasonable and non-discriminatory terms the protocols implemented in certain Windows desktop operating system products and used to interoperate or communicate natively with Microsoft server operating system products required under Section III.E of the Final Judgments.
