Wireless headset issues

If you are having trouble with your wireless headset, the following information can help troubleshoot and resolve issues.

  • Make sure that the headset is fully charged.
  • Make sure that the headset is connected to the wireless receiver.

Troubleshoot your wireless connection.

Some systems may have volume keys that do not affect external headphones or speakers.

  • Make sure that the wireless receiver is connected to the computer.
  • Make sure that the wireless receiver is correctly plugged into a powered USB port on the computer.
  • If the wireless receiver is plugged into a USB hub, ensure that the hub is correctly plugged into the computer. Ensure that you are using a powered USB hub that is appropriate for high-power USB devices.

Check the placement of the wireless device.

Try the following solutions:

  • Make sure that the wireless device is within 30 feet (approximately 10 meters) of the wireless receiver.
  • Place the wireless receiver on a non-metallic surface (for example, avoid placing the receiver on top of a desktop computer).

Check for interference from other objects.

Both wireless and non-wireless objects can cause interference with your wireless device. Try the following solutions:

  • Make sure that there are no nearby items that might cause interference, including desktop fans, fluorescent lights, or large metal objects (such as filing cabinets).
  • Minimize the number of competing wireless devices, including cordless phones and remote-controlled toys within range of the receiver.
  • Remove any metallic decorations or stickers from your computer or device.

Reset the headset.

Try the following solution:

  • Press and hold the Windows Live Call button for approximately 14 seconds to reset the headset, then reconnect to the wireless receiver.
