Application Platform Assessment Tools: FAQ

Why should I use the Microsoft Application Platform Assessment Tools?

Once you have completed any Application Platform Assessment Tool, you will have access to:

  • An accurate profile of your organization based on a vendor-agnostic structure.
  • Aggregate 'Peer Comparison' reports by industry, organization size and development organization size.
  • The ability to measure your progress by archiving and comparing each report with previous reports, as well as the option to export the reports.

I don't really have expertise in all the sections; can I skip some of these sections?

We recommend you answer all as best you can; there are no right or wrong answers.

My maturity level is Basic; what does that mean?

There are practices recommended at each level of maturity in the model; however, you should consider which level of maturity is right for your business requirements.

I have generated the report, what should I do now?

Microsoft may contact the owner of a completed assessment to discuss the results and advise on next steps. In some cases Microsoft will recommend you work with a partner or Microsoft Consulting Services to review the report, develop an impact map that shows which areas and practices impact your business the most, and create a solution roadmap. If you are already working with a partner or consultant you might share the report with them so that they can then review the report and work through next steps with you.
