Beyond the Call of Duty Profile on David Musgrave in Australia Support
Profile on David Musgrave in Australia Support Team

Beginning his career with Microsoft in 2001, David has been a driving force in creating the Developing for Dynamics GP Blog. He also developed the Menus for Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP solution and the Support Debugging Tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP.

His tireless work around the Blog has allowed it to be used as an influential tool in information-sharing with customers and partners. This is also the first time Commercial Technical Support (CTS) has embraced blogging as a new vehicle in the Dynamics support business, with high global readership.

David also created an application that provides the world wide Visual Studio Developer community a method to add their VS Tools for GP applications into the standard Dynamics GP menu navigation structure. This was built within a short time based on some of David's ideas and this project also helped hone his Visual Studio skills. Over the past two years David has also built a tool which incorporates several different debugging and logging techniques for GP to help customers manage this issue. By releasing this Support Debugging Tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP to the global partner channel, he has created a system which is one-stop-shop for debugging application, security and development issues.

"I am really grateful to the customers and partners whom I have worked with – they give me so much encouragement and that keeps me going. I also want to thank my manager Neil who empowers me to always do what's right in order to keep customers happy."

He adds, "My dad who lives in England is really proud that I am winning awards and getting customer compliments too…although he has no idea what I do!"

To David, one of the most important aspects of his accolades and recognition is about bringing more visibility to the work he has created to share with our customers and partners. His driving force is based on his conviction to go beyond the call of duty to deliver high quality standards, uncovering new techniques and sharing tips and tricks. "Our customer satisfaction rates are consistently very high, so I think that shows that what we do really makes an impact!"

When asked about his memorable moments, David shared an incident when a customer, who had been a keen reader of his blog and newsgroups, stopped him in the hallway at a conference to give him a handshake and word of thanks. "Hearing 'thank you' and seeing an impact the information makes on the customers, partners and peers make all my work worthwhile because it is about the community coming together to create great programs and products," said David.
