This one looks difficult, but it's actually very easy! With candles dressing up the card, you can use this idea for any holiday or significant occasion. Give these cards for birthdays or anniversaries, or use them as place cards for dinner parties, baby showers, and bridal teas. You can even light the candles, symbolically—but snuff them out fast! Note These cards can be mailed, but you should protect them by placing the cards inside a small gift box (rather than an envelope), wrapped in tissue paper. The package can be both a card and a present!
What you'll need:| • | Avery note cards | | • | Scissors or paper cutter (optional) | | • | Small, birthday-style candles | | • | Hot glue gun (or fast-drying glue) |
Instructions1. |
Print your design on the card using the tips from the basic card-making page. Print an inside message, too, if you'd like one.
| 2. | Since most printers will force a margin (however minimal) around at least one edge of the card, make a professional, borderless edge by trimming away excess white space. | 3. | Fold the card in half. | 4. | Glue the candles onto the desired areas. |
Try adding these candles to cards you create to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary. It might also be fun to glue buttons, sequins, or other objects to your designs. Your friends and family are sure to love these cards!

Tami Peterson Lewiski's first book, Digital Decorating, prompted The Wall Street Journal to draw comparisons with Martha Stewart. That diva's domestic crown, however, is of no interest to Tami. Digital Home Arts is her trademark and, as one magazine reviewer put it, "Tami wields her printer like a great artist wields a paintbrush: fearlessly!" She's shown her innovative techniques for creating sophisticated home furnishings and stylish entertaining as a guest on many Home & Garden Television (HGTV) programs, including The Carol Duvall Show.
