Unlimited Potential ProgrammeUnlimited Potential Programme

Technology skills can open a world of possibilities and help individuals actively participate in all facets of society.

Through Unlimited Potential and other initiatives, Microsoft aims to increase computer literacy among all members of the population regardless of age, background, education, location or socio-economic status. Microsoft supports more than 190 Unlimited Potential Community-based Technology Learning Centres (CTLCs) located in rural and urban areas throughout Australia, and the number of supported Centres is growing.

Unlimited Potential CTLCs help improve lifelong learning opportunities for disadvantaged Australians by connecting individuals and communities. Through local partnerships, Unlimited Potential creates affordable opportunities for local people to contribute to society and the local community.

How does the Unlimited Potential Programme work?

The objective of Unlimited Potential is to support CTLCs, enhance their impact in the community and ensure their long-term sustainability. Unlimited Potential achieves these objectives by:

  • Providing direct resources to support CTLCs, including:
    Curriculum - both formal and informal
  • Funding for selected elements of CTLC operations; and Microsoft software for CTLC operations.
  • Acting as clearinghouse for sharing tools and best-practice examples , covering such topics as:
    • Volunteer management;
    • Community engagement; and
    • Evaluation tools.
  • Assisting CTLCs in community engagement and attracting disadvantaged individuals in the community to attend centres.
  • Linking to other relevant programmes such as Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher (MAR).
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the Unlimited Potential network and CTLCs in providing technology access, engaging disadvantaged individuals in learning, increasing technology skills and improving community connectedness and identity.
  • Responding to the evolving needs of CTLCs as agreed with Unlimited Potential members.
