Over the past two years, Microsoft has worked closely with teachers, students and parents to better understand the kind of work they do, and how we can improve their everyday Office experience. We have also worked with leading educational content publishers to understand how instructional content related to productivity applications can be integrated into Office, to make things easier for students and educators while they are completing Office-based tasks.

Learning Essentials is a Toolbox for teachers that includes:

• A customisable homebase where teachers can quickly set common assignments and tasks

• Newly designed context-specific toolbars that provide easy access to educationally relevant functions in Office applications. E.g. Word count

• Templates in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with contextual document assistance that help teachers use Office for a variety of teaching and learning activities

• Flash-based tutorials from leading educational publishers that coach teachers on relevant academic strategies that incorporate specific Office application functionality
