The Learning Gateway framework and Microsoft Office System enable you to create individualised portal sites for students, teachers, administrators and parents. You can determine the content on an individual, group, year level or whole-of-institution basis. Microsoft SharePoint Web parts and Web services display relevant information from the Student Management System.
Students and teachers access Le@rning Federation learning objects and Microsoft Encarta articles through Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and Microsoft Class Server, and complete online assessments.
Class lists show when students are online, allow synchronous instant messaging, Web conferencing, audio conferencing and application-sharing using Microsoft Office Communicator. Potential benefits- Students and educators can easily access rich resources, broad expertise, strong support systems and others with whom they can collaborate from school or home.
- With individualised portal sites students can complete and submit assessments online, email staff and collaborate with others. Password-protected access can be extended to parents.
- Teachers can establish workspaces to collaborate on new curriculum content and foster an online environment where students can access resources, participate in discussions and collaborate on group assignments.
- Lesson materials can be created, edited and saved directly using Microsoft Office applications.
