Following the first customs seizure of his goods, Ian Fleming attempted to avoid seizure by re-directing the goods to a privately owned post box. On 13 March 2009 Microsoft settled its Federal Magistrates Court proceedings against Ian Fleming, Tanya Fleming and Global Research Associates Pty Ltd.  In finalising the proceedings, the Court ordered that the Respondents permanently restrain from any future infringement of Microsoft’s copyright or trade mark rights. The Respondents were also ordered to pay Microsoft a total of $44,010 in compensatory and additional damages for the infringement of Microsoft’s copyright and trade marks and the conduct of the Respondents in attempting to continue to import counterfeit copies after some shipments had been seized by Customs.
