How to Buy

Microsoft Australia works with a network of retailers and partners who sell Microsoft products or services. Microsoft Australia does not sell direct to the public. To give the best advice and support to our customers, we have different partners for different License types.

You can buy Licenses for our products in several ways:

From a retail outlet when you buy single licenses

These are physical, shrink-wrapped boxes of product (called a Full Packaged Product) that can be purchased in a local retail store or software retailer. If you are buying for less than five desktops, this is may be the best way to purchase.

From the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) when buying a new computer

You may license products through an Original Equipment Manufacturer or Retailer. These are products (e.g., Windows XP Professional Operating System) that come installed when you purchase a new computer.

Through our Volume Licensing programs
If you have five or more desktops, you may enjoy significant savings by acquiring multiple product licenses. Multiple Licenses are generally purchased through Certified Partners, Microsoft Software Advisors and Resellers.

Depending on the size and type of your organisation, you have the following Volume Licensing options:
