Jeff Bullwinkel
Legal and Corporate Affairs Director
I joined Microsoft Australia in January 2009 to run the company's legal and corporate affairs department.
Microsoft is a fantastically interesting and gratifying place to work as an in-house lawyer. Given the breadth of the company's business and the dynamism of the IT industry, there's no shortage of challenging legal issues.
Apart from our core legal work, members of my team frequently contribute to discussions on how public policy can provide a framework for innovation, job creation, and sustainable economic growth. We're also involved in Microsoft's Citizenship Initiative, and in that work we're honored to partner closely with government and community leaders in a collective effort to use technology and ICT skills to improve lives and create opportunities for Australians.
I've been at Microsoft since 2000 and, prior to moving to Sydney, spent nearly 10 years working in our Hong Kong and Singapore offices, where I managed a regional corporate affairs team. Before joining the company, I worked at the US Department of Justice in Washington, DC and began practicing law in New York City.

Outside of work, I am active in the youth not–for–profit sector where there is a great opportunity to support those in need via leveraging the wealth and influence of the AU$13B media industry. In 2006 I founded MAYDAY (Media Assisting Youth), the Australian Media Industry youth charity fundraising body.

At Microsoft, I believe we are doing a good job of ensuring that our culture is one where people can be themselves and can grow and develop their careers in a way that creates a truly win-win outcome for them and the business.
I am originally from New Zealand, and have lived and worked in several countries before settling in Sydney. I am also a working Mum with two teenage kids and I have enjoyed the variety of balancing the roles of wife, mother and HR professional for over 20 years.
