Computer Experts Enjoy the Queensland Sunshine at Microsoft's Annual Tech Fest

Around 2000 information technology professionals from around Australia will converge on the Gold Coast today for Microsoft's annual technical conference, Microsoft Tech.Ed 2005.
This premier educational event runs from today until Friday 2nd September and is being held on the Gold Coast for the first time. Delegates will learn from technology experts from Australia and around the world in more than 250 sessions over four days at one of the newest and most advanced venues in the country - the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Today is Student Day at Tech.Ed, with over 400 students from Queensland and national universities registered to kick start their career by attending free sessions and having the chance to hear about job opportunities both at Microsoft and some of its partner companies.
The event proper kicks off tonight at 6.00 pm with an Xbox® powered welcome party. Attendees have the chance to see the Bacardi world champion cocktail bartenders at work, chat with exhibitors, rub shoulders with Xbox characters, watch a show or demo and race a car. Australian band Kisschasy will perform the lead single from their debut album, "The Do-Do's & Whoa-Oh's", which topped at number 25 on the ARIA charts.
A celebrity Xbox challenge will also take place tonight with David Peachey, fullback for the Cronulla Sharks, to take on Tech.Ed delegates, plus ten lucky people will have the chance to take on Dean Loaney, Australian Halo 2 champ, in the ultimate Frag Fest, with the chance to win an awesome prize pack worth $2,000.
