Microsoft Australia Appoints Samantha Herron as Corporate Communications Manager

SYDNEY, Australia, Tuesday, June 10, 2003
Microsoft Australia has appointed Samantha Herron as Corporate Communications Manager.
Formerly Corporate and Public Relations Manager at Microsoft and Publishing and Broadcasting Limited's (PBL) joint venture subsidiary, ninemsn, Samantha will manage Microsoft Australia's corporate communications strategy across the business and manage Microsoft's relationships with media, IT industry analysts and other influential members of the Australian community.
Samantha will report to Mark Iles, Microsoft Australia's general manager of business and marketing operations, and managing director Steve Vamos.
"We are very excited to have Samantha join Microsoft Australia. Samantha's extensive experience and strong relationships with media and government will enable her to provide strong leadership of our corporate communications," Mr Iles said.
With over 15 years of corporate communications experience, Samantha's background includes several producer and journalism roles at the Nine Network (Channel 9) and then later the Seven Network (Channel 7), up to 1998 when she joined the Federal Government as a media adviser. In 2000, Samantha worked in the Public Affairs team of Cable & Wireless Optus before joining ninemsn in 2001.
Samantha's appointment will take effect at the end of the month.
