Microsoft Hardware brings to light the unique rechargeable wireless and backlit desktop.
SYDNEY, Australia - 9 November, 2007 - Today, Microsoft Hardware Australia is shedding some light on the greatly anticipated stylish Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000. This new desktop is evolving and transforming the desktop computing experience with a unique wireless rechargeable and backlit desktop, the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000.
Whether users are finishing a report at the office or sitting back to watch a movie in comfort at home, the innovative technology harnessed in this desktop offers the perfect balance between work and relaxation with comfort, ease and style.
"With innovative new products like the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000, we are continuing our commitment to developing new hardware products that meet the evolving ways consumers are integrating technology into their lives. No longer are keyboards and mice simply about typing and clicking, they are an extension of the individual's personality," said Scott Jackson, product marketing manager, Entertainment and Devices Division, Microsoft Australia.
The Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 is a masterful combination of futuristic industrial design and entertainment-enhancing features. This stylish desktop is only an inch thick, yet is filled with deluxe enhancements including wireless technology that allow users to work wherever they want. Taking advantage of Windows Vista allows users to easily accomplish everyday tasks, quickly finding what they are looking for, enjoying the latest in entertainment and having their favourite websites right at their fingertips.
Don't be left in the dark…
Taking entertainment to the extreme with its smart backlighting features, the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 lets users relax in style. The automatic backlighting lets them easily see all the keys without compromising the relaxed atmosphere. With its ambient light sensing, the backlighting is automatically adjusted based on the amount of light in the room. It also features proximity awareness to sense when the user walks away from the keyboard, which prompts it to turn off to conserve battery life and turn back on when the user returns.
Let us entertain you…
When it comes to entertainment, the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 shines, making the transition between work and play effortless and ideal for on and off desktop use. For hassle-free entertainment, the desktop features a navigation pad on the keyboard, which allows users to control the cursor from wherever in the room they are. Users can kick back and relax on the couch and watch a movie or flip through a collection of their favourite songs; with the integrated navigation pad, there is no need to get up to find the remote control or mouse.
No need for messy wires as the Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 taps into the innovative wireless 2.4GHz Bluetooth® technology. Featuring First Connect Technology, the desktop can work on PCs right out of the box, allowing you to untangle your desktop and work free from annoying wires.
Even with multiple wireless connections, users should find virtually no interference as a result of intelligent technology that "hops" when it encounters a trouble spot.
This desktop is the first rechargeable keyboard that will allow users to power both the mouse and keyboard in one easy-to-use charging station and remain fully functioning while charging. To enable extra convenience and enhance the entertainment features, the docking station is equipped with three available Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 ports for devices such as digital cameras, MP3 players and Microsoft LifeCams.
Pricing and Availability
The Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 will be widely available in November for a recommended retail price of $449.95:1
