Microsoft Australia today announced the appointment of Ms Pip Marlow as Managing Director, effective immediately.
Ms Marlow steps into the role vacated by Tracey Fellows, who was appointed Area Vice President for Microsoft Asia Pacific in December 2010. In her previous position Ms Marlow held the joint role of Enterprise and Partner Group Director and Public Sector Director, Microsoft Australia reporting to Ms Fellows.
“I feel both confident and proud handing the reigns of Microsoft Australia to Pip,” said Tracey Fellows. “Pip has contributed so much, in so many parts of our business and the appointment couldn’t be more deserved. Pip’s local experience gives her many strong customer and partner relationships that will continue to grow in this new role.”
Ms Marlow, a 15 year Microsoft veteran, joined Microsoft Australia in 1996 in the Partner team with responsibility for Anti-Piracy efforts, System Builder Channel and Distribution strategy. In 1997, she transferred to Microsoft in the US for eight years and held key roles in the OEM and Partner divisions where she was responsible for the US local OEM, Distribution, ISV channel and Partner programs. She returned to Australia in 2004 to lead the Small and Medium Business Solutions & Partners division before being appointed Director of Public Sector business and more recently also Director of the Enterprise and Partner business.
Prior to Microsoft, Ms Marlow was a founding member of a company that grew to be one of Australia’s largest storage distributors, Agate Technology. Ms Marlow was with Samsung Information Systems prior to that, where she built the Semi-Conductor Distribution business.
“I’m excited to take on the opportunity to lead the Australian subsidiary. It’s a time of significant change for our industry and Microsoft as businesses and consumers move to the cloud,” said Pip Marlow. “I’m looking forward to leading an already-strong team to achieve great results for our customers and partners.”
Ms Marlow was born, raised and educated in Palmerston North, New Zealand. She lives in Sydney with her Scottish husband and two daughters, Sophie & Lucy.
