Energy Company sees IT satisfaction rating soar to 82%
Sydney, Australia – 21 May, 2013 – Microsoft has today announced that AGL Energy Limited (AGL), one of Australia’s largest energy retailers with over 3.6 million business and residential customers, has moved to Office 365 to give the company a single, trusted platform that unites its operations and employees.
As mobile connectivity and collaboration is central to its business, AGL sought a solution that would help its employees work more productively on the go. To achieve this and as part of its IT roadmap, the company required an email system that would be more economically viable to support, easier to deliver to new employees, more robust and accessible through any smartphone device.
“To cater to the increasing demand from employees for communication access virtually anytime, anywhere, we sought a compelling cloud solution that could integrate with our existing IT infrastructure,” said Owen Coppage, Chief Information Officer, AGL. “Office 365 is the cornerstone in our strategy to take advantage of public cloud services.”
In September 2011, AGL piloted Microsoft Exchange Online, part of Office 365, and found the cloud-based email system reliable and flexible which acted as the catalyst to migrate its 3,000+ employees to the new system which was completed in April 2012.
“Like many of our customers, AGL operates in a competitive and rapidly changing market,” said Isabel Boniface, Office 365 Product Manager, Microsoft Australia. “The need to provide a high-quality service is of extreme important in order to operate effectively. Office 365 was a great fit for the company as it fits the way their employees like to work and is fast and easy to use.”
The new Microsoft Exchange cloud-based email system has helped AGL save money, improve cost control and simplify email support. “By using Exchange Online, AGL have been able to reduce the cost of deploying email, and as Microsoft manage all of the upgrades, they’re set to save in IT costs,” said Boniface.
Each year AGL conducts two surveys to measure employee satisfaction. The end of year survey (June 2012) indicated an IT satisfaction rating of 82 per cent, with Office 365 being a contributor to this satisfaction rating. This is a significant increase over the previous IT satisfaction score of 40 per cent.
