Robust Security Capabilities and Centralized Control

Through a combination of robust security services, settings, and features, the Windows Mobile architecture combined with System Center Mobile Device Manager helps protect critical data and systems, simplify management, and lower costs.

Windows Mobile enables strong passwords, password expiration, enhanced password history, and stringent password reset requirements. Remote device management features allow administrators to wipe or lock on-device data, verify passwords, and enforce security policies over-the-air to multiple devices simultaneously, creating new efficiencies and capabilities for wireless network administrators.

System Center Mobile Device Manager offers even more robust security and device management capabilities to give organizations enhanced on-device security, over-the-air policy enforcement and simplified, centralized control. Key capabilities include:
  • Active Directory/Group Policy integration for simple, central control
  • Enhanced security for behind-the-firewall access with mobile VPN
  • Instant remote device wipe for prevention of theft or loss of data
  • Control over which software applications run on which devices
  • Ability to lock down communications and camera functionality
  • Encryption of files on the device and storage card

Available programs, features, and functionality vary by device, Windows Mobile operating system version, and version of Exchange Server used. Connectivity and synchronization may require separately purchased equipment and/or wireless products (e.g., Wi-Fi card, network software, server hardware, and/or redirector software). Service plans are required for Internet, Wi-Fi and phone access. Features and performance may vary by service provider and are subject to network limitations. See device manufacturer, service provider and/or corporate IT department for details.
Direct Push Technology requires either Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) or Windows Mobile 6, connected with either Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 or Exchange Server 2007.
