eWeek.com (April 24, 2007) Microsoft has delivered a set of new services based on its BizTalk Server technology to help developers build new SOA-oriented applications. Microsoft BizTalk Services, announced on April 24, include BizTalk Identity Services, which provide authentication, access control and federated identity based on the WS-Trust specification. The new BizTalk Relay Services facilitate the traversal and bridging of physical networks, enabling high-fidelity interconnection between cooperating systems for cross-organizational messaging behind firewalls.
This IDC Research report, sponsored by Microsoft, is based on the results of a usage/adoption study of mission-critical application platform software within large organizations. The study was conducted by IDC according to their strict research standards, and Microsoft had no influence over the selection of survey respondents, who were randomly selected based on IDC’s research methodology.

Gartner (June 7, 2007): This Gartner Magic Quadrant by Jess Thompson evaluates those vendors in the Application and Integration market focused on providing solutions focused on the integration of back-end application systems. Gartner positions Microsoft in the Leaders quadrant. According to Gartner, "Leaders are vendors with a proven and comprehensive integrated product set."

Gartner positions Microsoft in the Challengers quadrant. According to Gartner, "Challengers excel in their ability to attract large user following, but owe that ability to a relatively narrower focus on a particular usage pattern or user type."
Gartner (June 1, 2007): This Gartner Magic Quadrant by Simon Hayward evaluates an analysis of the totality of the Application Infrastructure market and the relevance of suppliers whose products might be used over time in a variety of project types. Gartner positions Microsoft in the Leaders quadrant. According to Gartner, Leaders are "recognized as having a full range of capabilities to support all project types in any geographic location and have demonstrated consistent product delivery over a considerable period to meet customer needs."
(June 7, 2007) Microsoft releases the first public beta of the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and a CTP of BizTalk Services, supporting the Microsoft "real-world" approach to service-oriented architecture (SOA) and the company’s vision of enabling customers to build more dynamic applications. Microsoft will deliver BizTalk Server 2006 R2 in the third quarter of 2007; it will provide radio frequency identification (RFID) infrastructure, native support for electronic data interchange (EDI), and new technologies for integrating the .NET Framework 3.0, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, and Windows Vista. Beta 2 of the product is available now.
(February 7, 2007) Microsoft Corp. announced the formation of the Microsoft Business Process Alliance (BPA), which extends the benefits of business process management (BPM) to an array of companies and offers enhanced functionality to existing Microsoft customers. The Business Process Alliance is a group of 10 industry-leading software vendors focused on making BPM solutions more broadly accessible and helping companies take advantage of BPM tools based on the Microsoft platform. Through this alliance, a broad range of customers will benefit from a powerful set of end-to-end tools for automating and optimizing business processes. The initial members of the BPA are AmberPoint, Ascentn, IDS Scheer, Fair Isaac, Global360, InRule, Metastorm, PNMsoft, RuleBurst and SourceCode Technology Holdings Inc.
