Candidatos que estejam começando a certificação MCSA em Windows Server 2003 devem ser aprovados em três exames obrigatórios e um exame eletivo.
Os MCSAs certificados em Windows 2000 devem prestar apenas um exame de upgrade para se tornarem MCSA em Windows Server 2003.

Exame de Upgrade (1 obrigatório)
Exames de Sistema operacional de rede: o MCSA em Windows 2000 tem a opção de exame 70-292 no lugar dos 2 exames de sistema operacional de rede. Porém, um MCSA em Windows 2000 pode optar por fazer os dois exames.
Exames de Sistema Operacional Cliente: um MCSA em Windows 2000 que já passou no exame 70-210 ou 70-270 satisfaz os requisitos para MCSA em Windows Server 2003. Por esta razão, nenhum outro exame é requerido.
Exames Eletivos: Para um MCSA em Windows 2000, a credencial MCSA satisfaz os exames eletivos para Windows Server 2003.
