Confessions of an Accidental IT Manager

A recent survey carried out by Microsoft Ireland reveals that the Accidental IT Manager is common in many Irish small businesses.

Interesting findings include:

·         Men over 35 in senior roles are most likely to be an Accidental IT Manager, whether they like it or not, and 33% will spend up to 156 hours (or approx. 6.5 full days) a year doing DIY fixes.

·         56% of SME staff are frustrated by the Accidental IT Managers working to solve IT problems

·         Spillages, cleaning laptops with water, overloaded plugs and sellotape on cracked screens amongst the biggest sins caused either by the accidental IT manager or discovered by them.
