The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) is the professional association for the teachers in Alberta, Canada. Email plays an important part in helping the ATA communicate with its 43,000 members on important education issues. Recently, the ATA upgraded its messaging solution to Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 to take advantage of the latest archiving and disaster recovery capabilities. It also expects to improve productivity through remote and offline access to email and calendars.

Bombardier Aerospace is a leading manufacturer in the aerospace industry with locations in more than 10 countries around the world. Because the company’s operating system—Windows 2000—was to reach the end of its support life cycle in July 2010, Bombardier decided to upgrade to the Windows 7 operating system instead of deploying Windows XP. The upgrade will help enhance security, reduce costs, and improve information access and productivity.

To resolve critical data-center cooling issues and provide more efficient disaster recovery, the College of Family Physicians of Canada deployed Windows Server® 2008 R2 and tools such as Microsoft® System Center Data Protection Manager 2007. As a result, the college has reduced its server footprint and cut data-center energy costs by about 65 percent. It has also sped backups by 50 percent and increased IT reliability, efficiency, and agility.
