Eligibility Criteria
Microsoft Canada has established a series of criteria for each category that will determine funding eligibility. Consistent across all categories is the requirement to use Microsoft .NET-connected services and applications. Initiatives must also span at least two and up to five years.
Academic Research:
Projects must demonstrate proven practical need so that the application reaches beyond the research realm into industry
All research initiatives must be led by a faculty advisor with proven leadership in the chosen research area
Potential university commitment and/or government and industry fund matching opportunities
Education Solutions:
Focus on the use of emerging technologies to enhance the learning environment. This could include areas such as communications integration across faculty, students and staff, course delivery, document management, etc.
Projects must have the potential to deliver significant tangible incremental value to the university in terms of student productivity gains, improved student experience, cost reductions, etc.
Curriculum Integration:
Focus on C# (new programming language), Global XML Services Architecture (GXSA), compiler theories using CLI Shared Source and application development targeting various computing devices
Content must be created and taught within one year of agreement date and must be integrated into 75 per cent of the course syllabus
Content created must be shared with other academic institutions
Industry Outreach:
Candidates must outline structured training initiatives, providing the business community with both in-class and hands-on experiences with .NET technology
Address the needs of the target business audience including timing, relevance and method of delivery
Content should be potentially applicable and transferable to curriculum and other training programs
