Connect with your creative side

Use your Windows Mobile-based device to create and share

When it comes to the fast-paced, ever-expanding world of mobile devices, the phrase “get connected” has never been more relevant. “This connectivity and sharing trend is going to continue,” says Kristin Holt, host on G4 Tech TV.

Windows Mobile-powered devices allow users to create and share original content quickly and easily. “Whether it’s social networking, v-blogging or listening to music, people want to create and share in an interactive and dynamic way,” says Holt.

Simple sharing and sending

James Palmer, a Toronto father of three, uses his Windows Mobile-based device to create and share for both business and pleasure.

“I wanted a mobile solution that would enable me to be productive outside the office,” says Palmer. “[I wanted] a multi-functional device that would allow me to browse the web and access my tasks, calendar and contacts.”

Palmer finds his device’s intuitive photo and video features make sharing simple. He’s even used his Wi-Fi-enabled HTC Phone on the fly. “I was at a wedding when I remembered I had the device in my pocket, so I pulled it out and took some video,” he says. Figuring out how to send the video took him less than a minute.

A growing trend

Alec Taylor, director of mobile communications business for Microsoft Canada Co., believes sharing and creating original content is the next step in the evolution of mobility.

“Windows Mobile-based devices provide immediate fulfillment. People need and want to stay connected in real time,” Taylor says. Because the Windows-based interface is similar to the one most people use on their desktops, sharing and sending is simple and straightforward.

Don’t just share — create to share

Sharing your favourite photos, hottest video clips and best music mixes has never been easier. You can use most Windows Mobile-based devices to do the following things:

  • Make movie magic. Use your Windows Mobile-based device to post video directly to Windows Live Spaces. That way, all your pals who couldn’t get tickets to the Spice Girls reunion tour can get a glimpse of the action. Not quite as good as being there — but almost.
  • Send a photo worth a thousand words. Make sure your mom gets a snapshot of your little one’s first taste of ice cream. That photo of chocolate all over his face is priceless!
  • Plug and play. Plug your device into a pal’s computer with a USB adapter. You’ll be the life of the party as you share favourite tunes and music mixes with guests.
  • Try mobile blogging (moblogging). Keep your social network in the loop, even when you’re on the go. Windows Live Spaces for Mobile makes it easy to snap and upload photos and post fresh blog entries directly from your handheld device. Follow these steps:
  1. On your phone’s Internet browser, go to Windows Live for Mobile.
  2. Select Spaces.
  3. Sign in with your existing Passport or Windows Live ID.
  4. Start moblogging!
  • Create a podcast. Bring your whole social network up to speed on what’s new with you. Regale your listeners with highlights of your trip to Peru or your high school reunion hijinks — quickly and easily — with a podcast.

Whether you’re sending your pals a snapshot of a Caribbean sunset or posting video of your baby’s shaky first steps, your Windows Mobile-based device makes it easy to create and share your world, anytime and virtually anywhere.
