Design a sensational CD envelope
Send out holiday photo CDs in crafty homemade covers
Surprise family and friends this year by putting all of your season’s greetings onto a CD. You can share your favourite memories — photos, music, voice and graphics — in a unique and memorable way.
But don’t forget the presentation.
You wouldn’t send a greeting card in a plastic bag, so why wrap a photo CD in a bland, generic case? Get out your glue and scissors and use your PC to create a whimsical and heartfelt design anyone on your gift list will love.
Materials
- scissors
- plain or coloured cardstock (two pieces)
- glue
- embellishments
Step 1: Pick your paper
- Select a sturdy cardstock in the colour of your choice to construct the envelope. If you want the inside piece to be the same colour, you’ll need two sheets.
Step 2: Download the CD envelope template
Step 3: Customize your templates
- To add colour to the template, select a section; then click Format > Shape Fill > Select a colour.
- To add Clip Art or a photo, move the cursor outside of a box (make sure box is not selected), go to Insert > Clip Art (or Picture) > search for and select any image you like. Set the image to Format > Text Wrapping > In Front of Text to be able to drag the image into the appropriate box.
- To include text on the template, insert a textbox and choose a font style and size.
- Continue to embellish with borders, textures, WordArt and the like until satisfied.
Step 4: Print your templates
- Print your templates onto plain or coloured cardstock.
- Cut out the templates from the cardstock.
Step 5: Assemble the envelope
- On piece #1, with the edges at the bottom, fold the edges inward, using the lines to guide you.
- Apply a coat of glue to the top of the edges and glue piece #2 in place with the cut-out at the top.
- Fold down the top so it covers the inside envelope. This is the front of your envelope card.
- Insert the CD into the envelope and it’s ready to send.
