Seed packets are a great Mother's Day gift or small thank you gift for family and friends. Visit your local garden store for inspiration on what to put in each packet — you can customize it for each recipient, from vegetables to sunflowers to herbs. Or craft some fashionable seed markers to indicate where you have planted new seeds in your garden.
Step 1: Download our easy-to-use seed packet template in Word. Or to enhance your seed packets with photographs and imagery, save this seed packet template in your My Documents folder and open it with Digital Image Pro. You can use this blank template and a plain black font to print on colourful paper — we used wallpaper pieces for a fun design. Or add in your own imagery from a scanned photo or Clip Art — a sunflower photo for sunflower seeds or a picture of a vegetable for vegetable seeds.
Step 2: Cut out packet, following the dark black guidelines. Fold on half-line and use craft glue to attach bottom and side flap. Leave top flap open.
Step 3: Fill with seeds of your choice and glue down top flap.
Make garden tags to accompany your seed packets, so your gift recipient can mark where the seeds are planted in the garden. Choose a corresponding image for the seed packet and print out on regular cardstock. You can have the tags laminated at an office supply store to keep them safe from rain and dirt. Then glue or staple them onto tongue depressors, found at craft supply stores.
