Michael Eisen joined Microsoft Canada in 1998 and is a member of Microsoft’s Canadian Leadership Team, which is responsible for driving the company's long-term business direction and future growth. Mr. Eisen’s responsibilities include communicating with the federal, local and provincial governments and others to demonstrate Microsoft Canada’s commitment to providing individuals and organizations with the tools to realize their potential.
Mr. Eisen also oversees Microsoft’s legal interests in Canada, with particular emphasis on government relations, Internet safety and security, intellectual property and competition policy issues.
Prior to joining Microsoft Canada, Mr. Eisen worked at a Toronto law firm where he was Microsoft's lead outside counsel in Canada. He also served as Secretary and General Counsel to the Canadian Alliance Against Software Theft and was copyright counsel to the Canadian cable television industry.
Mr. Eisen is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Societies of Alberta and Upper Canada. He is also a member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police e-Crime Committee, the Canadian Police College Advisory Board and is an advisor to The Society for the Policing of Cyber Space Board of Directors.
Educated at York University and Osgoode Hall Law School, Mr. Eisen was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1977 and the Alberta Bar in 1981.
