For Immediate Release
TORONTO, Ontario - Mar. 4, 2003 - Xbox Canada today announced a new marketing program that brings moviegoers and video gamers together with the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft Corp. Starting today, the Xbox Game Force will be a feature presentation at select Famous Players theatres across Canada, offering Canadians an opportunity to test their wits in a battle of the minds for a chance to win cool Xbox prizes.
By playing a variety of entertaining, skill-testing games against the Xbox Game Force or even against other patrons, moviegoers will have the opportunity to win great Xbox gear, Xbox system and game rentals from Blockbuster, and even the chance to win $100 off an Xbox video game system purchase.
In addition, the Xbox Game Force will bring the coolest new Xbox games available, primed and ready for play. Movie patrons can check out hot Xbox games like “Indiana Jones® and the Emperor’s TombTM” from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC or “DOA® Xtreme Beach Volleyball” from Tecmo®, and play all games featured in the new Xbox Platinum Hits series, best-selling Xbox titles now available at a value price of $29.99. With the Xbox Game Force invading theatres, moviegoers are expected to arrive at theatres long before show time in order to have some fun with the world’s most powerful video game console.
“More and more, we are seeing increasing convergence between all forms of entertainment, and movies and video games are a natural fit,” said Nuria Bronfman, VP of Corporate Affairs for Famous Players. “We’re thrilled to welcome the Xbox Game Force into our theatres as yet another great way to provide even more entertainment value to our Famous Players guests.”
“Famous Players is the perfect partner to help Xbox Canada showcase the superior graphics, sound and power available only on Xbox,” said Dawn Martynuik, Consumer & Retail Program Manager, Xbox Canada. “Bringing the Xbox experience directly to movie and video game fans is an important way to introduce more Canadians to games at a higher level.”
