Integrated business suite tops in small to midsize business category

MISSISSAUGA, ON - Nov 2 2005 - Microsoft Corp today announced it has been recognised by VARBusiness magazine for outstanding achievement in technology innovation. VARBusiness has named Microsoft® Business Solutions-Navision® 4.0 as winner in the small to midsize business category of its 2005 Tech Innovator awards competition. Microsoft Navision, now part of Microsoft Dynamics™, is a fully customisable business-management solution that integrates critical financial, manufacturing, distribution, customer management, supply chain, analytics and e-commerce data into one streamlined package.

"What makes us especially proud of this award is that it's based on nominations from value-added resellers and solution providers," said Nancy Teixeira, senior product manager, Microsoft Business Solutions, Microsoft Canada Co. "This award is a vote of confidence from our partners, which interface with customers every day. It's an accomplishment we can all be proud of."

Nominated products were judged in two stages: a first-round examination by VARBusiness's team of technology editors, followed by a final selection by a panel of judges assembled from the solution-provider community. Microsoft Navision 4.0 was selected as a winner from more than 500 entries submitted in 11 technology categories. In awarding the prize, the judges emphasised Navision's ability to integrate with other systems and its built-in tools to optimise the solution for customers' business processes, both of which provide multiple business opportunities for partners.

"Innovations such as those we've seen from Microsoft demonstrate the vibrancy and vitality of the industry," said Lawrence M Walsh, editor for VARBusiness. "They represent breakthroughs that will benefit our solution-provider readers and, in turn, the users of technology."

VARBusiness magazine covers the business of technology integration. Its annual Tech Innovator awards event was held on 20 Oct 2005 in San Francisco. In addition to the award, Microsoft Navision 4.0 will be recognised in the VARBusiness 19 Dec "State of Technology" issue, which will include profiles, features and in-depth explanations of the technologies and products.
