TORONTO - January, 13, 2006 - On Thursday, February 9th, Peter Cullen, Chief Privacy Officer, Microsoft Corp. will be in downtown Toronto to speak with business leaders at The Empire Club of Canada. The Empire Club is recognized as one of Canada's oldest and largest speakers' forums with a membership comprised of some of Canada's most influential leaders from the professions, business, labour, education and government.
As Chief Privacy Strategist, Peter Cullen is directly responsible for managing the development and implementation of programs which enhance the privacy of Microsoft products, services, processes and systems, both internally and worldwide. Cullen brings more than a decade of expertise in privacy and data protection practices to his role and Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing initiative.
Cullen's speech is titled, "The Internet Battlefield: Working Together to Support Online Safety." He will explain Microsoft's approach to privacy by describing the areas that contribute to consumer trust online. He will also describe the new Internet battlefield - the latest tricks being employed by cybercriminals - and steps we can take to protect ourselves from online harm.
Prior to joining Microsoft in October 2003, Cullen served as the corporate privacy officer for the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), responsible for influencing initiatives relevant to the RBC Financial Group's strategic approach to privacy. He also established the Corporate Privacy Group, a first for a Canadian financial institution, to more effectively coordinate the management of privacy across the organization.
We hope that you can attend this interesting luncheon. Pricing and registration details are located at The Empire Club of Canada's website: http://www.empireclub.org/reservations.asp
