Former enterprise business leader to oversee Canadian operations
Mississauga, ON, February 6, 2006 - Microsoft Canada Co. announced today that Phil Sorgen has joined the company as President. In this role, Phil will oversee all Canadian operations and assume leadership over the subsidiary's citizenship initiatives.

"Microsoft Canada has a strong network of innovative and successful technology partners that I can't wait to reach out to. I'm also very excited to help lead Microsoft Canada's corporate citizenship efforts, including its groundbreaking work on child online safety."
Mr. Sorgen has been with Microsoft Corporation since 1996. Before coming to Canada, he was General Manager for Microsoft's Gulf Coast District and was responsible for building the strategies and executing the plans for sales, consulting, channel development and marketing for South Texas and Louisiana. Under his leadership, the district was one of the fastest growing in the United States.
Sorgen also created and led the worldwide Microsoft Oil and Gas Vertical where he oversaw business strategies, including identifying key priorities and working with Microsoft technology partners to provide solutions for oil and gas manufacturing customers.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Sorgen served as a national account manager with NCR/AT&T GIS, managing and selling to large enterprise customers in the retail industry. Mr. Sorgen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of North Texas.
