IT Community Test Drives Latest Microsoft Innovation at Energize IT

Over 2000 IT community members will experience the latest innovation in desktop, server operating system and security solutions

Mississauga, ON — June 5, 2007 - Microsoft Canada Co. is providing an opportunity for over 2,000 IT professionals, developers, designers, architects, students and IT enthusiasts to come together, share and experience the latest Microsoft innovation in Windows Server® 2008 operating system, Forefront™ Client Security and Windows Vista® at Energize IT 2007 http://www.microsoft.ca/energizeit/. Hosted by Microsoft Canada TechNet and MSDN teams, Energize IT takes place on Saturday June 16 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

At Energize IT 2007, the IT community will learn about Windows Server 2008, the future of virtualization and the latest advances in security with the launch of Microsoft Forefront and Microsoft System Center security and management products. Participants are invited to bring their PCs to install and test betas of the latest desktop, server operating system and management solutions like System Center Operations Manager 2007 and System Center Configuration Manager Beta 2. Energize IT will also offer developers an opportunity to explore the new capabilities of Microsoft® Visual Studio® “Orcas” and Microsoft Silverlight Web development platforms.

For more consumer-focused attendees, interactive labs and break-out sessions such as GameCamp will allow participants to learn how to build high performance games for Windows® or Xbox 360™ using XNA Studio Express. The hands-on gadget development track will also highlight new techniques including how to add interactive maps to a Windows Vista Gadget. Developers can then put these gadget skills to the test by entering the Gadget vs. Gadget competition which is open until July 16, 2007. An environmentally friendly event, Energize IT 2007 will work with Bullfrog Power, the first 100 per cent green electricity retailer in Ontario, to ensure clean and renewable electricity is used to power all activities.
