Wow, can you believe these Olympics? Sure the Men's Hockey Team didn't do as well as hoped, but the Women's team won the gold and the rest of the Canadian athletes have been exemplary in competition and in representing Canada.

Speaking of going for Gold; this month we're introducing our new Canadian Developers Blog. This blog represents a new conversation between MSDN Canada and the development community at large. Our goal is simple; to provide news and information that is relevant to Canadian developers. Check it out and let us now how we're doing!

Dan Sellers is going for Gold. Dan's got a new 5 part Web cast series on security entitled Security on the Brain and already well over 1800 people have registered. Each Wednesday in March at 1:00 pm EST starting this week, tune in to hear practical approaches to developing more secure applications. And the best part is the more sessions you attend, the better your chance to win an Xbox 360.

VSLive Toronto is just around the corner in April. They have an Extended Early Bird and right now you can save up to $200 dollars on the conference registration. Have a look at the agenda or take a look at other VSLive! events. If you're interested in Gen U, Web 2.0, SaaS, SOA, architecture and would like some insight into the architectural underpinning or our Live platform then I strongly encourage to watch the video of John deVadoss talk from VSLive San Francisco.

On a personal note I will be visiting User Groups over the next couple of month. First up the Toronto .Net User Group on March 16th where I'll be presenting, along with Lucas Magder our very own University of Waterloo co-op and all around smart guy, a very cool application we built using Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Media Connect, and a Roku SoundBridge. Hope to see you there.

Finally, this installment wouldn't be complete without one link to cool code, cool technology or something to make developers that much more productive. Well the patterns & practices group has released the Composite UI Application Block - a reusable, source code-based component based on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Didn't know about the patterns & practices folks? Invaluable!

Well enjoy the rest success of our Olympians and don't forget to go for gold and win that Xbox 360.
