Hi ,

Exciting times are here again! Last week at MIX09, Microsoft announced two major technologies for Web developers. The first of these is Silverlight 3 Beta, a runtime that powers rich application experiences across multiple platforms and browsers. Some highlights for Silverlight 3 include new controls, new media decoders (i.e. AAC), and support for an out-of
-browser experience. The second major announcement for Web developers is the availability of Internet Explorer 8. If you haven’t taken the opportunity to download and install Internet Explorer 8 yet, I would strongly encourage you to do so! Make sure to check out features like Web Slices and Accelerators! Also take advantage of the integrated Developer Tools that allow you to debug your webpages through capabilities like its JavaScript profiler! Finally, if you weren’t able to attend MIX09, you can still check out video recordings of all of the sessions from MIX09 by visiting videos.visitmix.com. These videos are available through Silverlight or can be downloaded for offline viewing.

Cheers
John Bristowe
