Thinking About the Cloud — Windows Azure Announcement Vol 12-42 | July 29th 2009

Hi, I am Daniel Shapiro, Senior Platform Lead of Microsoft Canada. I can’t stop thinking about the cloud and the opportunities and solutions it can unlock. I’ve been thinking about it since we announced at the Worldwide Partner Conference earlier this month that you can build, deploy and even sell solutions on top of the Windows Azure Platform and Microsoft will launch the platform this November at Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference.

If you don’t know, the Windows Azure platform  is a cloud computing services platform hosted in Microsoft data centers. It includes a cloud services operating system and a set of developer services. Windows Azure, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure and Microsoft .NET Services are the key components of the Windows Azure platform. Microsoft designed and built the Windows Azure platform to enable you to fully take advantage of your skills of .NET. So if you’re a developer using .NET, you’re ready to go.

You may not be thinking about the cloud as much as I am, but I know you love playing with new technology. So Microsoft has the  Windows Azure for Developers  website to get you started and until Microsoft launches in November it’s completely free  for you to use.
