Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful 2010. Here’s to an exciting 2011! Speaking of which, I was forced to check my calendar earlier this month because I thought Christmas had arrived for the second time in three weeks. In case you might have missed it,
Scott Guthrie
announced the
release of ASP.NET MVC 3, NuGet, IIS Express, SQL CE 4, Web Farm Framework, Orchard, and WebMatrix
. In his blog post, he indicates that these products are free, build upon the
.NET Framework 4 and Visual Studio 2010
release, and add a ton of additional value to
ASP.NET
and the Microsoft Web Server stack.
Microsoft WebMatrix
is a tool that makes creating a new web site incredibly fun and easy. Getting started is a snap; WebMatrix helps you get started through built-in or online templates or the Web Applications Gallery. From there, you can customize your site using the code and database editor. Finally, WebMatrix provides access to offers from our hosting partners and makes it incredibly easy to publish your work to the web.
ASP.NET MVC 3
is a framework for building scalable, standards-based web applications using well-established design patterns and the power of ASP.NET and the .NET Framework.
NuGet
is a free, open source, package management system for .NET that simplifies the process of finding, installing, and using open source libraries in your projects.

Improving ASP.NET Security with Visual Studio 2010 Code Analysis
Anyone doing ASP.NET development probably admits, openly or not, to introducing or stumbling upon a security issue at some point during their career. Developers are often pressured to deliver code as quickly as possible, and the complexity of the platform and vast number of configuration options often leaves the application in a less than desirable security state.
